O’Briens
Sandwich Bar in Croydon, one of the very first outlets to open
in the UK 11 years ago, has been given a complete
makeover as part of a major investment in a new concept store
design and menu by the sandwich and coffee bar franchise. As
she gets set to celebrate three years of ownership at the outlet
next month, Croydon franchisee Lynn Clayton welcomes the new
look and menus, which offer her customers more choice than
ever before.
“The timing for the new look outlet could not be better,
as I look forward to celebrating the third anniversary with
my long-term team of five staff, who are always happy to help
and have been a huge asset to my business. We are now busy
building up the retail and outside catering business with specials
and seasonal variations added to core menus, guaranteeing our
customers an abundant food offering.
“Our healthy options have been extended and O’Briens
has also introduced a more ethical way of doing business. We
now have organic deli dishes and snacks and our coffee blend
includes Fair Trade beans.”
The Croydon outlet, which sits opposite the busy tram stop
in George Street, not only provides a takeaway and sit in service,
including al fresco in a secluded walled garden at the rear.
Lynn also has a large on site preparation facility where her
team are busy building the outside catering business. Free
chilled delivery of a wide variety of platter options is available
for businesses and private functions throughout the Croydon
area, taking the O’Briens offer to the heart of the community.
When she took over the O’Briens franchise back in 2002,
Lynn brought a wealth of catering expertise and management
skills to her business venture. She had worked nine years in
the catering industry, including a position as catering manager
with the Compass Group.
The O’Briens makeover is the result of much innovative
work on food concept development, while building on the many
positive perceptions of the brand, such as its main point of
difference - a made to order offer with food prepared in front
of the customer.
As reflected in expansion plans across the UK this year, the
new concept is not only making the O’Briens offer a much
more appealing proposition for customers. It is also proving
a bit hit with new and existing franchisees like Lynn. Since
its introduction to the UK in 1994, the brand has enjoyed great
success with 111 outlets now open with eight more scheduled
to open before the end of this year.
For more information on outside catering or to make orders
in advance for collection, Lynn and her team can be contacted
Mondays to Saturdays at 16 George Street on 020 8680 0001.
The shop is open Mondays to Fridays from 7.30am to 4.30pm and
on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
